Summary and impact

Everyone who’s been a new hire knows that the onboarding process makes or breaks the job experiences that follows. Long onboarding processes are not only bothersome for employees and hiring managers, but are also expensive for the company. I worked in the Integrated Business Technologies (IBT) Department of Cox Enterprises as the HCD/UX intern, where I tackled the UI design of a new automated onboarding form. The goal of this project was to design a system that alleviates the need to manually select hardware and software bundles. I worked with hiring managers from IBT and TechHelp (IT Service department) to streamline the onboarding process for new employees. While the bulk of my work is under NDA, my main contributions included:

1. Designing 2 fully intractable Figma prototypes that illustrate dropdown menus for department, role, and the bundle of software that will be processed on the backend.

2. Pioneering the architecture of MS Form/Power Automate combo to eliminate unnecessary back and forth between hiring managers, employees, and the TechHelp desk.

3. Led usability testing with managers and IT, validating efficiency and enabling the system to scale to thousands of hires annually.
